A weekend of meditation is a wonderful way to remind yourself of the experience of deeper practice, or to discover for the first time the peace, insight and love that can come from silence and meditation in a supportive group.

 

The foundation of a happy life is the ability to love oneself. From self love, the ability to love others flows naturally. A pervasive symptom in Western culture is that individuals have been conditioned to experience self-hatred rather than self-love. Fortunately this negative conditioning is subject to healing and transformation.

This retreat will focus on the development of mindfulness (non-judgmental awareness) and love (metta, loving kindness) in which there is room for everything. When this love is turned upon your own suffering the natural "trembling of the heart" of compassion occurs arises and you are motivated to be merciful and act to relieve the suffering. When love is turned toward the suffering of others it leads to rich compassion and the longing to be truly helpful in the world.
