A one day retreat with Robert Beatty and Doug Pullin, April 14th 9am to 4:30pm.
We use the word love to mean many things. The spectrum goes from passionate romantic falling in love all the way through loving a restaurant or vacation beach, to selflessly loving a child, to loving all beings. The Buddha taught that love is our true nature, which can be revealed and developed through cultivation.
The practices of love and their resulting effects are known as the Brahmaviharas. They are also described as the Four Illimitables, and the abode of the Gods. Modern psychology understands them as four healthy and wholesome emotions.
Join Robert Beatty and Doug Pullin in an exploration of love and its manifestations, compassion, joy and equanimity in a day of guided meditation, interactive practices, music, dancing and sharing from the heart. In the safe and nurturing environment of PIMC and our community, learn to open to these qualities of mind and heart. As we cultivate these limitless qualities of loving goodwill and compassion we can harvest true happiness, spiritual strength, and insight. These practices are complementary to insight meditation. This is day is open to all new and more experienced students.
