Community Care & Support
Throughout the year, PIMC invites Sangha members to engage in practice that extends beyond our cushions and walls, supporting organizations in the wider community and offering simple, meaningful ways to participate. This month, we’re collecting essential items for Transition Projects. If you’d like to help, please bring donated items to PIMC throughout March.
Donation Drive: Transition Projects
We support the work of Transition Projects, a Portland-based nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families move from homelessness to housing stability. Through shelter services, resource navigation, and supportive housing programs, they provide essential care and pathways toward long-term stability for some of our community’s most vulnerable neighbors.
Most-needed items right now:
-
Men’s clothing (especially pants, shoes, and new underwear)
-
Women’s shoes (size 9 and up only) and new underwear
-
Linens (towels, sheets, blankets, pillows)
-
NEW hygiene items (especially travel/hotel-size products)
At this time, they are NOT accepting:
-
Women’s clothing (currently overflowing from winter drives)
-
Camping gear (with the exception of sleeping bags)
Please donate mindfully and follow the guidelines below for gently used items:
-
Clothing should be in-season, storage space is limited.
-
Clothing should be free from rips, tears, discoloration, stains and holes.
-
Clothing should be clean and laundered, free from pet hair.
-
Items should be from smoke-free homes.
-
Hygiene items must be new and unopened.
